Happy 4th Anniversary OCTAA! 

OCTAA's 4th anniversary event was celebrated on December 13th at the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center in Irvine, California.   OCTAA members were proud to finish another year full of successful events for the Turkish-American Community living in Orange County.

The event started with the General Assembly meeting and the Board of Directors election.  Three new Directors were elected for two-year terms on the Board: Esra Cosar, Dr. Kadir Dinc, and Halit Nejat Yakupoglu.  Congratulations to our newly elected Board members.  We wish them all the best during their terms.  We also thank the outgoing board members Cenk Acar, John Gülşen, Rasim Öztekin, Hande Can, and Keith Aleckson for their invaluable service to the community during their terms.

Program included a mini concert by the OC Turkish School Choir singing the favorite Turkish songs Memleketim and Arkadasim Esek led by their music teacher Burcu Kayiran.  Next, the OC Turkish School folklore group performed Atabari and Cayda Cira taught by their teachers Rabia Hidirlar and Ercan Ozbek.

Following these wonderful performances, OCTAA 2008 Awards were presented to individuals and organizations in recognition of their outstanding service and contributions to the Turkish-American Community. 

Guest enjoyed delicious borek, baklava, kurabiye, and pogaca service catered by Rabia Tan and Esra Peker.  Celebration ended with a successful raffle to benefit the ÇYDD’s Women’s Scholarship Project: Bir Isik da Siz Yakin Campaign and raised nearly $700.

We thank all of our members and guests for their attendance and volunteers who worked very hard to make this event a success.  We look forward to another successful year under new leadership in 2009.
