General Assembly Meeting/4th Anniversary Event

Elections for the three (3) vacant seats on the OCTAA Board of Directors were held at the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center in Irvine, CA on December 13, 2008 during OCTAA’s 4th Anniversary Event.  John Gulsen and Keith Aleckson were elected by the existing Board of Directors to serve as the Election Committee.  After quorum was achieved (15% of the General Assembly membership), the Chair opened the official Election Meeting and described the election procedure in detail.

The Chair opened nominations for the Board.  Three candidates had expressed interest in running for the Board of Directors prior to the meeting: Esra Cosar, Dr. Kadir Dinc, and Halit Nejat Yakupoglu and their statements of interest were posted on the website preceding the election.  No one ran off the floor.  The Chair closed nominations.

Each OCTAA member in good standing (i.e. membership renewed into 2009) was eligible to vote in the election and received orange ballots accordingly.  Each member voted on a maximum of three candidates.  The votes were tallied by the Election Committee and double checked.  The following individuals have been elected to serve on the Board for a two-year term during 2009-2010:

• Esra Coşar

• Dr. Kadir Dinç

• Halit Nejat Yakupoğlu
